photoshop type tool review

Your assignment is to create a Photoshop document with specific typefaces, point sizes, and colors.

typing in photoshop



directions

open photoshop

go to window>workspace>default workspace or Essentials in CS5

go to file>new>name: type your name_type review 1

width: 9 inches (not pixels)

height: 6 inches

resolution: 100

color mode: rgb

background contents: white

click OK


be sure you check Auto-Select Layer












1. click once on the Horizontal Type Tool
2. in the Type Options Bar, select Times, Regular, 60 point, colored red
3. click once in the document
4. type your first name

click on the check mark when your type layer is correct
save your work into your folder

1. click once in the document window
2. in the Options bar, select Times, Bold, 72 point, colored green

click on the check mark

1. click once in the document window
2. in the Options bar, select Times, Italic, 90 point (you will need to type this in), colored blue
3. make a new type layer, using Times, Regular, 120 point, colored purple.

Use the Move Tool to arrange these layers at the top of the page

Repeat the above type layers using Helvetica. In Helvetica, Oblique is more or less the same as Italic.

Arrange the Helvetica layers in the center area of the document.

Repeat, using a typeface you choose. If you do not have bold or italic, just use regular, but stay with the specified point sizes and colors.

your grade will be based on:
Correct document size and specifications
Correct type usage_typeface, point size, color

Auto-Select Layer is checked

You should have 12 type layers.

4 layers using Times typeface
Times, Regular, 60 point, colored red
Times, Bold, 72 point, colored green
Times, Italic, 90 point (you will need to type this in), colored blue
Times, Regular, 120 point, colored purple.

Arranged at the top of the page.

Your assignment is to create a Photoshop document according to specifications, having 9 layers, with a different sized custom shape on each layer.

scroll down to the custom shape tool window


look right under the word "Photoshop" in the Options bar and be sure you have the correct

icon selected in your document




Save your work into your folder

1. click on the new layer icon
2. in the Custom Shape menu, select a custom shape
3. create a custom shape by clicking in the document and dragging
4. resize: go to edit>free transform and resize the custom shape

click the check mark when you have what you want or the cancel button if it’s not what you want.


1. create and resize 9 custom shape layers, each layer having a different color
2. use the move tool to rearrange the shapes to create a center of interest
3. type your name on a new type layer

save your document into your folder

5.2 Demonstrate analog-to-digital conversion using a scanner.

Objectives:
1. Read, understand and follow directions
2. Create a pen and ink illustration in line
3. Scan the illustration
4. Add color to the scanned illustration in Photoshop

Directions:
Create a pen and ink illustration using a variety of lines. Go to this link for ideas.
Use at least seven different types of lines.
Create a center of interest in the design.
Scan your illustration.

width: 8 inches (not pixels)
height: 8 inches
resolution: 100
color mode: rgb
background contents: white
click OK

Be sure you check Auto-Select Layer


Place a Custom Shape on a new layer.
Add a Drop Shadow to the Shape.
Click on the Horizontal Type Tool and select Times 18 point type.
The type color should be green.
Type Drop Shadow on a type layer and place these words near the shape with the drop shadow on it.
Create a new layer and place a new custom shape on it.
Add Bevel and Emboss.
Select Times 24 point type as the typeface. Color the type red.
Type Bevel and Emboss on a type layer and place these words near the shape with the bevel and emboss on it.
Type your first and last name on a type layer, using any typeface, point size, and color you wish.
Add a color (not black) to the background layer
Save this document into your folder.
