The assignment: The idea of this assignment is to make a CD or album cover (vinyl is back) with you or a group as the musical artists. You can shoot all the photography or you can download images. Remember copyright. You will use Photoshop to cut out a foreground image and place it on a background.

STANDARD 6.0

Students will produce creative and artistically pleasing media for use in various applications for advertising, Internet, film, entertainment and marketing communications.

6.2 Demonstrate the principles of design.
6.3 Translate artistic concepts into a format that can be communicated to others.
6.4 Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of research in relationship to design.

For the CD Cover assignment:

Go online and find 3 examples of CD or album covers that you like. Sketch them and turn them in today for a grade.

You may also take a photo for your CD artwork. You will need to take one photo for this assignment no later than our next class meeting.

Step two

Take photos for your CD cover. Load them onto your computer.

Or, go to caedes.net. or Google images and download a high resolution photo for your CD cover.

You could start putting type, as in the album title and name of artist or group, on your CD cover.

Step three

Create a new Photoshop document. Title it Yourname_CD cover. For example, SteveCampbell_CD cover.

Background Contents: White

Specifications

Your CD artwork must contain:

• At least one photograph that you have taken (You may use other copyright free images)

• Title of CD

• Name of artist or group

You will also be graded on:

• Good design

• Creativity & Imagination
