cover design competition





Student Scholarship Opportunity: Design the Program Cover for the 2017 Institute for CTE Educators

High school students have the opportunity to participate in a competition to design the program cover for the 2017 Institute for CTE Educators. This design competition provides students with the chance to earn a scholarship to the Tennessee public postsecondary school of their choice. All design specifications and application requirements are listed in the 2017 Program Cover Design Application. Applicants can submit an online application form (here).
 

The applicant with the winning design will be awarded $1,000, while the runner-up and second runner-up will be awarded $500 and $250, respectively. The student must attend a public postsecondary institution in Tennessee in order to receive the award.


Completed applications must be submitted to 
Andrea.Thorsbakken@tn.gov by April 1. The winning design will be announced by May 1. Scholarship funds will be given directly to the postsecondary school designated by the winner upon enrollment.

Open Photoshop if it does not appear in your dock.

In the Photoshop Options Bar (top of screen) go to Window

Check the following (unless already has checkmark) :
Workspace>Essentials
Layers
Application Frame
Options
Tools

Then go to View and be sure Rulers is checked
Create a Photoshop document

Name: CTE Cover Design
Width: 8.5 inches
Height: 11 inches
Resolution: 300
Color mode: RGB

Save into your documents folder as CTE Cover Design

Course Standards 

Safety 
1) Demonstrate the ability to comply with personal and environmental safety practices associated with art and design applications: the use of adhesives; hand tools; machines; and the handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals/materials in accordance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations. Introduction to Design 
2) Investigate the role of designers in communicating ideas in society, both historically and currently, emphasizing how social, cultural, economic, and political developments are reflected in and influenced by visual messaging.
