ACT words through Edmodo

Sketchbook assignments:

STANDARD 2.0: Students will analyze and apply typography to the design of a visual image.

2.1 Demonstrate a knowledge of the common typeface classifications, their components, and application.

2.2 Analyze relationship of size, spacing, and formatting to the appearance of the printed piece.

2.3 Evaluate design variations that exist within type families.

2.4 Analyze type selection for a visual image.

STANDARD 3.0: Students will analyze and demonstrate design principles and processes.

3.1 Assess equipment and media appropriate for design and layout.

3.2 Evaluate various items that can be designed and produced in Design and Digital Imaging.

3.3 Evaluate design principles needed to compose a successful layout.

3.4 Evaluate color theory in designing a visual image.

3.5 Develop a design concept and communicate the idea in a form that others can appreciate.

Complete the sketchbook assignments daily. I will grade them daily, during the last 30 minutes of class. If you do not complete them your grade will be a zero. Sketchbook assignments:

On one page of your sketchbook, copy 7 logo design that you like as you look at these links. You can draw on one side or use both sides.

Feb 1

Sketch 7 different logo design ideas that you might use as your logo if you are a graphic designer.

All logos should show your name in the design. At least 4 designs should be composed only of letters.

Feb 3

Go to this link and read about the art elements and principles of design.

1. Symmetrical and assymetrical balance. Two sketches, side by side.

2. Emphasis

3. Movement

Rubric for your grade:

1. All requirements and specifications are completed. (20 points possible)

2. Use of knowledge and technical skills in all media. (20 points possible)

3. Artwork communicates ideas through the use of media, techniques, and processes. (20 points possible)

4. Artwork shows originality and unique solutions. (20 points possible)

5. Craftsmanship and effort. (20 points possible)

Remember, part of your employability skills grade is based on you bringing your laptop to class and using for ACT words and other assignments.

ACT words

Complete your ACT word assignment through Edmodo, using your laptop.

All ADC academy students must submit this assignment on line, using Edmodo. If you are in the ADC academy and you do not submit through Edmodo, your grade will be a zero.

ACT words must be submitted individually.

Electronic devices

Cell phones, portable music players, headphones, earbuds, and other electronic devices are not permitted. This is a school rule.

If I see one of those items, I will ask you to give it to me.

If you give it to me, I will give it back to you at the end of class.

If you choose not to give it to me, or contiunue to break this rule, I will write a referral.

The only exception is your school-issued laptop & ear buds, I believe. That means if you are using your school-issued laptop and ear buds for assigned work, this is permitted....at this point in time. This could change if my understanding is incorrect.
