Hillwood "H" in photoshop


Introduction:
This assignment is to design a new "H" that would be used for Hillwood. The design, if accepted and approved,  would be used for all sports teams and possibly the school itself. That means it would be on Hillwood's website, etc. 

One to two designs will be selected from each class. These design will be submitted to a committee, which will select one winner from the Digital Arts & Design 1 classes.

Use Photoshop to design this H. Feel free to use layer styles such as Drop Shadow, Bevel and Emboss, etc. 

Combine images using the custom shape tool if you want to.


1. Open photoshop. If photoshop is not already open, go to finder>applications>Adobe Photoshop CS5

Go to Window>Workspace>Essentials or Design

2. Go to File>New>Name: type your name_hillwood H

width: 10 inches (not pixels)
height:10 inches
resolution: 300
color mode: rgb
background contents: white
click OK

Typing a letter on a layer

1. Click on the T in the tools palette and select the Horizontal Type Tool







2. Click once inside the document window. Do not click and drag.

3. In the Options Bar, select a Typeface, Point Size, and Color





4. When you have typed the letter click on the check mark on the top menu
5. Resize: go to Edit>Free Transform. Scale and resize the letter to fill most of the space
6. Click the check mark when you have what you want or the cancel button if it’s not what you want.


Applying Layer Styles

1. Look at the Layers Palette and be sure the layer with your name on it is still highlighted
2. In the Photoshop menu bar, go to Layer>Layer Style
3. Go to Drop Shadow. Click OK when you have what you want.

Apply another Layer Style
1. In the Photoshop menu bar, go to Layer>Layer Style
2. Apply bevel & emboss

Remember, you can click the "eyeballs" off and on to work with individual layers more easily.

1. Be relatively simple
2. Be able to be used on athletic equipment and apparel, t-shirts, letterhead and envelopes, websites
3. Be original (do not violate copyright by using existing designs)
